In commemoration of Get Further fifth Anniversary, Adulai Bai Mansaray, a Level 3 Business learner at Lewisham College, took part in a Q&A panel discussion at the Houses of Parliament, in Westminster.

Adulai and members of the panel answered questions from the audience about their experiences on the tutoring received by Get Further, and how young people can benefit from extra tuition outside their normal education provision.

Aislinn Hammah, Business lecturer at Lewisham College and a tutor with Get Further, accompanied Adulai to the event and talked about how rewarding it is as a tutor to help learners gain confidence with their GCSE English and maths.

Adulai said: “I have been very fortunate to have received the best tuition in maths from my tutor at Get Further, my confidence has grown immensely. I can move on to the next stage of my career goals.

“Overall, the Get Further programme is an excellent charity for young people who need extra support in obtaining their English and maths GCSEs. The whole experience has inspired me to give back by being a tutor to support young people like me with their English or maths GCSE.”

Jayne Morgan, Lewisham College Vice Principal, said: "At Lewisham College, we always encourage our learners to access and make the most of the extra support with their English and maths available to them through the College. These qualifications are not just about academic success; they represent the hard work and resilience, that our students put into their education. The success of Adulai shows his dedication in obtaining his GCSE qualification. I am sure he will now go on to continue to excel in the next stage of his education journey and career ambitions."

Get Further is a charitable organisation based in London that provides support to learners from disadvantaged backgrounds who are facing challenges in studying GCSE English or maths in further education. They match learners with top tutors to help them obtain these essential qualifications.
