Lewisham College proudly hosted the South East London Chamber of Commerce (SELCC) Business Breakfast, bringing together local businesses, community stakeholders, and influential figures in Lewisham to exchange valuable insights and explore opportunities for collective growth. The event, which took place at the college's premises, featured inspiring keynote speakers, interactive networking sessions, and an enlightening panel discussion that delved into various aspects of the borough's future vision.

During the event, the Mayor of Lewisham, Brenda Dacres, emphasised the crucial role of collaboration in strengthening the local economy, creating sustainable job opportunities, and providing inclusive support for all residents. She also highlighted the Inclusive Economy Lewisham Strategy and stressed the significance of working hand in hand with local stakeholders to realise these objectives.

Brenda said: "This event provided a valuable opportunity to showcase Lewisham Council's efforts and explore ways to enhance our local economy, create quality jobs and support all residents, regardless of their age."

The event also provided Lewisham College with a platform to reaffirm its unwavering commitment to nurturing a skilled workforce and creating opportunities for the community. With over 140 business representatives in attendance, the constructive dialogues highlighted the importance of collaboration between Lewisham Council, SELCC, and local businesses for mutual success.

Jamie Stevenson, Principal at Lewisham College, said: "We were delighted to welcome local businesses' representatives and engage in a constructive dialogue that highlighted the importance of working in partnership with Lewisham Council, SELCC, and local businesses to ensure success for all stakeholders, the local community and our learners".

A particularly impactful aspect of the breakfast event was the networking and Q&A session, led by Helen McIntosh, Councillor Kim Powell, and Jamie Stevenson. This session fostered meaningful interactions and laid the foundation for potential collaborations within Lewisham's diverse business landscape.

The event showcased the Mayor and the SELCC's dedication to championing local businesses and fostering a strong sense of community among Lewisham's entrepreneurs but also underscored Lewisham College's pivotal role in preparing the future workforce and cultivating partnerships with local businesses.
