Lewisham College is proud to join this year’s Care Leavers’ Week, which takes place from 26 October to 1 November to celebrate the successes of care leavers from across the UK, and to inspire them to achieve their full potential.

Asfa Sohail, Principal at Lewisham College, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating Care Leavers’ Week. It is important to reiterate our commitment to providing a fair, diverse and inclusive environment for all students, regardless of their circumstances.

“We are proud to be in collaboration with the Care Leaver Covenant who are doing amazing work and we are striving to support our care-experienced students in achieving their full potential.”

Laura Pearson, Covenant Progression Coordinator at Lewisham College, said: “I am excited to be part of Lewisham College’s Student Services team and to collaborate with the Care Leaver Covenant to help young people leaving care plan their next step after College.

“I am care-experienced myself, so I’m in an ideal position to understand and support our students to make sure they can make the most of the opportunities available to them and feel supported whether they are progressing into work or higher education.”

This role is key in supporting care leavers students at the College and helps more than 150 care-experienced Lewisham College students.
