Young learners studying ESOL courses at Lewisham College were awarded for outstanding achievements and attitude throughout the 2021-22 academic year.
The awards ceremony took place at the end of the summer term and recognised the young learners' hard work, dedication, and achievements throughout the year. The ceremony featured a presentation displaying work completed by learners in enrichment activities such as artwork, poems, drama and music performances.
Certificates were handed out to learners for attendance, contribution, progress, and improvement, along with subject-specific awards in art, drama, and music. Lewisham Music was also present and performed live music with learners, demonstrating the skills they had developed in workshops over the past year.
Gerard Garvey, Principal at Lewisham College, said: "It has been brilliant to see the excellent work completed by the ESOL young learners over the past academic year. I want to congratulate them on their achievements and progress and wish them luck with their next steps in their education."
Jayne Morgan, Vice Principal at Lewisham College, added: "The ESOL Young Awards ceremony has been a fantastic way to celebrate and recognise the excellent progress learners have made this year. I was thoroughly impressed with their creative writing, art, film and music skills. I was also amazed by their confidence to speak publicly. I’m looking forward to seeing learners return in September for their higher level ESOL course and some will now study for a career in construction, engineering, health and care, hospitality, business, IT, hair and beauty, sport, acting, media, and art and design."
