Lewisham College has welcomed a donation of doors from construction partner Mulalley, providing learners with materials they can use to develop practical skills in the College's carpentry and painting and decorating workshops.

The donated doors will give learners the opportunity to practise using real-life materials, helping them develop industry-relevant skills and gain practical experience that supports their preparation for the workplace.

The delivery also brought the College's connections with former learners' full circle. Two Lewisham College alumni were involved in the drop-off. Seeing former learners return through their work with an industry partner provides a positive example of progression while allowing them to play a part in supporting the development of current learners.

The doors will now be put to practical use across carpentry and painting and decorating, where learners can work with materials and tasks that reflect those they may encounter within the construction industry. The donation also gives the materials a new purpose, combining support for education and skills development with a more sustainable approach to the use of construction resources.

Paul Kemp, Associate Director at Mulalley, said: "It is great to see resources being put to good use while supporting education, training, and the next generation of skilled tradespeople while promoting a more sustainable approach to construction. Small actions like this can make a big difference, helping to support future talent. It's a pleasure to be working in partnership with Lewisham College and proud to contribute as members of its Employer Advisory Board."

Mulalley's involvement with Lewisham College through its Employer Advisory Board helps strengthen connections between education and industry. Initiatives such as this provide practical benefits for current learners while demonstrating how employers and alumni can contribute to developing future talent. The donation will support learners as they build their practical skills and prepare for future opportunities within construction and the skilled trades.
