Lewisham College welcomed students and local community groups on Sunday 9 November for the annual pre-service gathering ahead of the Deptford Remembrance Service.

Young people from groups including the Squirrels, Beavers and Brownies assembled at the College before joining the march to the Deptford War Memorial. The service was led by Reverend Chris of St John’s Vale Church and featured contributions from MP Vicky Foxcroft (Deptford & Lewisham North), the Deputy Mayor of Lewisham and our Principal, Jamie Stevenson.

This year was especially meaningful for the College, as our first cohort of Public Services students took part. Working alongside local police officers, they supported members of the public crossing the road and helped manage traffic during the two-minute silence.

Lewisham College is proud to play a part in this important community event, honouring those who have served and giving our learners valuable opportunities to contribute through public service.

We extend our thanks to all who took part and to our students for representing the College with professionalism and respect.
