Lewisham College hosted a ‘Get Creative’ event this week to mark the launch of Inspire Lewisham, a new initiative delivered in partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London, The Albany and Do It Now Now that strives to support local residents looking to launch their career in the creative industries.

The event featured insightful presentations from creative organisations, employability workshops and live performances by talented local artists. Attendees also had the opportunity to speak to employers and industry professionals, discover work placement opportunities and receive advice on finding the right pathway to help them achieve their ambitions.

Asfa Sohail, Principal at Lewisham College, said: "We are proud to be working with Goldsmiths, The Albany and Do It Now Now to help people in our community to develop their skills and find employment opportunities in the creative industries.

"We are excited to launch this partnership and look forward to the life-changing opportunities that Lewisham residents will access as a result of our bespoke training programmes and industry connections."

Organisations such as Goldsmiths were also on hand to speak to attendees about the exciting range of pathways in the creative sector.

Majidur Rahman, Business Engagement Officer at Goldsmiths, said: “Get Creative has been a successful event to help promote the range of opportunities in the creative sector for Lewisham residents. Goldsmiths are very excited and proud to be working in partnership with Lewisham College on this great initiative.”
