Students and staff at Lewisham College will be taking part in International Women’s Day (IWD) #ChooseToChallenge campaign to show their support, solidarity, and commitment to challenging inequality.
Asfa Sohail, Principal at Lewisham College, said: “We are eager to take part in International Women’s Day and show our support for gender equality. We want to teach our students about the issues women face to create a more equitable future and ensure that our College is a safe and inclusive space for all staff and students.”
To participate in the #ChooseToChallenge campaign, the College is encouraging students and to show their support by taking a picture with their hand raised in front of the IWD posters placed around campus. Images can be sent to

International Women’s Day is a global event that takes place on Monday 8 March to highlight the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and push for equality. Established in 1911, this celebration is one of the most important days of the year to raise awareness of issues facing female equality and fundraise for female-focused charities.
