Lewisham College and Millwall FC celebrated their ongoing partnership with a special visit from men’s first-team players and the presentation of a commemorative framed shirt.

As part of Colleges Week celebrations, Lewisham College was delighted to welcome men’s first team duo, centre-back Caleb Taylor and goalkeeper Joel Coleman on campus, where they gifted the Lions 2025/26 away kit and shared first-hand insights about life in professional football.

Joining the players was Millwall Community Trust representative Nick Farrell, College principal Jamie Stevenson and assistant principal for vocational learning Fadumo Mohammad.

Taylor and Coleman discussed their journeys from youth academy to the professional ranks, highlighting the discipline required to balance elite sport with academic studies. During an engaging Q&A session, learners asked about player development, managing the pressures of the modern game and navigating media scrutiny.

Learners made the most of this opportunity to engage with Millwall’s first team, getting a glimpse into the inner workings of professional football. The partnership is already yielding results; learners have secured employment as youth coaches, while others are pursuing careers as professional players, physiotherapists and sports journalists.

Jamie Stevenson, Principal of Lewisham College, said: “This visit from Millwall FC during Colleges Week is a powerful reminder of what we stand for at Lewisham College which is ambition, opportunity and community. Our partnership with Millwall FC is more than a badge on a shirt; it’s a gateway to real experiences that inspire our learners, broaden their horizons, and connect them to the world beyond the classroom. We’re proud to work with Millwall FC to create pathways that help our students thrive on the pitch, in the classroom, and in their future careers.

Lewisham College would like to thank Caleb, Joel and Nick for this special gift and wish them all the best for the remainder of the 2025/26 season. The framed shirt will be proudly displayed on the College’s campus.

This visit highlights the power of community partnerships in creating real opportunities for learners in Lewisham and the surrounding areas of southeast London. Lewisham College is proud to work closely with Millwall FC in delivering high-quality programmes that combine extensive football development with a nationally recognised BTEC qualification in Sports and Coaching.
