Lewisham College has introduced new courses for adults as part of the government's £95 million Lifetime Skills Guarantee. The National Skills Fund fully funds the courses which are designed to help those eligible to upskill and boost their career prospects or gain the necessary knowledge and skills to access new career opportunities.
The scheme will also ensure employers have access to the skilled workforce they need to help bridge the skills gap while supporting economic recovery in the UK.
Asfa Sohail, Principal at Lewisham College, said: "This new scheme is a fantastic opportunity for adult learners who are looking to revisit education and access new job opportunities.
"After a year of the extremely turbulent and unpredictable employment market for most, I am very proud that Lewisham College is involved in this initiative to revitalise our economy and inspire adult learners to further their careers through free education."
To benefit from the Lifetime Skills Guarantee scheme, adults must be aged 24 and over, live in England, and must not have already achieved an A level or equivalent qualification.
Additional help for those on Universal Credit will also be available to support those on financial aid and access the scheme's benefits. Learners can train full time for up to 12 weeks on government support, opening up more educational opportunities and providing a better chance of finding work after completing their course.
Lewisham College supports the Lifetime Skills Guarantee with a new Level 3 provision in Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Certificate in Peer Support Work, Certificate in Understanding Mental Health, and more.
