Lewisham College launched the new academic year with an annual Welcome Fair, attracting over 700 learners throughout the day. The event was a lively celebration of college life, community, and the opportunities available to our learners.

Learners explored a wide range of activities, from signing up for clubs and enrichment programmes to discovering local services and support organisations. The fair also provided a chance to meet key college teams, including learner support and employability staff, helping learners feel connected and supported from day one.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Over 390 learners completed evaluations, praising the event and expressing excitement about getting involved. External exhibitors also highlighted the energy and engagement at the fair, noting how well-attended it was. It was inspiring to see learners connecting with so many different services and opportunities.

George Horohan, Performing Arts learner, said: “What I’ve really enjoyed about the fair is how lovely the teachers are. There’s so much focus on mental health, homes, and communities – and that’s what makes it special for me. I feel like I can truly be myself here.”

The Welcome Fair was the perfect way to start the academic year and a reminder of the vibrant, supportive community that makes Lewisham College unique. Thank you to all our teams and community partners who made the day such a success.
