Lewisham College hosted a job, careers and apprenticeships fair to help learners explore their career options and decide on their next steps as well as facilitate conversations between learners, recruiters and professionals from various industry sectors.

At the event, attendees had the opportunity to speak to a range of employers and discuss apprenticeship options with representatives from Lewisham College. Some of the employers who were present included: Metropolitan police, D&D London, Reed.co.uk, Urban synergy, Oasis care and training agency, London fire brigade – Fire cadets, My time active – childcare recruitment and Virgin media.

Lewisham College’s principal, Gerard Garvey, said: We are delighted to have hosted the jobs, careers and apprenticeships fair for our learners to explore the different options available for their next steps. We go above and beyond to support the development of our learners to help them achieve the goals that they have set for themselves.

“I hope this event provided some value to our learners and helped them to make a well-educated decision about what they will be doing next. I also want to say a huge thank you to all the employers that participated and gave insight into their industries.”

Amel Temglitte, Business learner, said: “I enjoyed my experience at the fair. The employers were extremely friendly and approachable, they were happy to help by answering the questions that I had. I received a lot of interesting information that I'll use to conduct further research. Overall, the fair was a calm and well-organised event.”

Precious Jones, Health and Social Care learner, said: The jobs, careers and apprenticeships fair was an opportunity for me to ask the burning questions that I had, directly to industry professionals. I left the event feeling informed and excited about all the options that I had.

“I was able to speak to representatives from D&D London, Virgin Media, Reed and The Metropolitan police, who all reassured me that their industries were accessible and encouraged me to do some more in-depth research about entry routes. It was also useful to learn more about the available apprenticeship opportunities at Lewisham College.”
