Lewisham College hosted a Jobs, Careers and Apprenticeships Fair to allow learners to meet with employers and training providers and learn more about the career opportunities available across various industries, including Hospitality, Healthcare, Finance and many more. Up to 600 young people and adults attended the event, interested in live job vacancies and training programmes.

Attendees met with representatives from Thames Water, Transport for London, Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust, Lewisham Council, The RAF, Metropolitan Police, Investment 2020, London Early Years Foundation, Morgan Hunt, JKS Restaurants, City Year amongst others who spoke about employment and apprenticeship opportunities in their organisations and the requirements for applicants to be successful in their applications.

Vikki Coleman, Pre-registration Education Lead at Lewisham and Greenwich Community NHS Trust, said: "It is exciting to be at Lewisham College today attending the Jobs, Careers and Apprenticeships Fair; the learners are enthusiastic and asked relevant questions about opportunities in the Trust. Having this space to meet learners interested in working in the Healthcare industry is very important for us, as it aids us in encouraging participation in the community and recruiting locally. We are glad to have been part of this event."

Salome Osie, GCSE Maths and English student at Lewisham College said: "The event has given me an idea of what I'd like to study next. I am interested in STEM subjects and would like to go to University, so it has been interesting speaking to Goldsmiths University and discovering more about their courses. It is also great that I got the chance to speak with the NHS Trust, which has allowed me to explore their opportunities and gain a better understanding of work experience alongside my studies."

Stuart Mcfadyen, Football Coach at Millwall Community Trust, said: "The event has been a great opportunity for the learners to come in and experience the potential pathways in preparation for their next steps. We are pleased to be a part of the fair and look forward to students signing up for our post-16 programmes."

Jayne Morgan, Vice-Principal at Lewisham College, said: "We are pleased to have welcomed so many employers to the fair today who shared information on career pathways, employment and apprenticeships opportunities with our learners, as well as valuable insights and guidance to help them secure a role or apprenticeship.

"Lewisham College takes pride in supporting the development of our learners and ensuring that they achieve their goals and aspirations. I hope the event has been helpful to our learners in making informed decisions about their next steps in education or employment."
