Lewisham College is proud to celebrate the success of student Abbie Jones, whose artwork has been selected for exhibition at the prestigious Origins Creatives 2025, hosted by the UAL Awarding Body at Mall Galleries in London.
Currently studying for her UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication, Abbie specialises in photography and used mixed media to explore the emotional landscape of mental health. Her piece, ‘Mania’, features a striking silhouette filled with mirrors — a symbolic reflection of vulnerability and isolation often experienced by those living with mania.
She said: “I wanted to use my piece to educate and influence my audience. The silhouette signifies the construct of mania and the desperation to be seen and known. By using mirrors, I hoped viewers would see themselves and their own vulnerabilities within the work.”
Abbie’s research-led approach and use of multi-dimensional techniques were inspired by photographers who integrate depth and symbolism into their practice. Her work stood out among submissions from across the UK, and was featured alongside other student pieces in art, design, fashion, media and performance.
The Origins Creatives exhibition is an annual celebration of emerging talent and creativity, platforming student work from UAL-accredited institutions nationwide.
Lewisham College congratulates Abbie on this achievement and looks forward to seeing where her creative journey leads next.
