This course is designed for young people aged 16 to 25 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan and are interested in developing digital and creative media skills.
As part of the Supported Learning Moving Up programme, the course is suitable for learners who want to build confidence with technology, explore their creativity and develop skills that support future study, training or employment.
The programme is taught in a structured and supportive environment and focuses on practical, project-based learning to help learners develop both creative and digital confidence.
By the end of the course, learners work towards the Gateway Qualifications Entry Level 3 Certificate in Creative Industries. This qualification recognises learners understanding of creative and digital work and supports progression into further learning and work-related opportunities.
Learners also complete a work experience placement to help them understand workplace expectations, routines and professional behaviours.

Entry Requirements
To join this course, learners must be aged between 16 and 25 and have an Education, Health and Care Plan.
There are no formal academic entry requirements. The course is suitable for learners with limited previous experience of digital media who are interested in learning through practical, hands-on activities.
Before enrolment, each learner will take part in an initial discussion to ensure the course is suitable for their individual needs, interests and future goals.
Assessment Method
Learners are assessed through a portfolio of work built up throughout the year.
The portfolio is based on practical tasks and creative projects rather than formal written examinations.
Assessment focuses on what learners can produce and demonstrate, including digital work, creative media projects and evidence of developing employability skills.
This approach allows learners to build confidence while showing progress in a practical and supportive way.
Aims of the course
The aim of this course is to help learners develop digital and creative skills in an engaging and accessible way.
Learners use music technology to explore digital tools, including recording, editing and creating audio, helping them understand how technology is used in creative industries.
They will develop creativity by producing original music and exploring how digital media skills connect to real working environments.
Alongside creative work, learners will improve their English, maths, digital literacy and employability skills, including writing a CV, preparing job applications and developing workplace confidence.

Facilities
Teaching takes place at Lewisham College within the Supported Learning department.
Learners study in a range of specialist spaces, including digital workshops, recording studios, IT rooms and classrooms, giving them access to industry-relevant equipment and creative environments.
Learning is delivered through practical sessions, supported lessons and supervised creative projects, helping learners build confidence and practical experience.
Learners are supported by a course tutor, Learning Support Workers and access to additional specialist support services throughout the programme.
