You will work towards achieving personalised individual targets for the City and Guilds E3 Introduction to Retail Award and Level1/2 Food Handling Certificate. You may also do functional skills qualifications in English and/or Maths if you are ready to achieve the next level. You will develop your skills in working in retail customer service health and safety in retail food hygiene and English and Maths. You will also work in the college cafe restaurant and trolley service as part of your course. The course will also help you make good adult choices take responsibility and develop your confidence in communication and personal and social skills. You will have a course tutor who will help you if you have any difficulties and who will monitor and support your progress. Support available: you will work in a small group (usually approximately 9 students) with a teacher and at least one support worker. Some students have 1.1 support. There is also support available in the canteen and quiet room and during lunch and breaks. If you do not travel independently you can apply for transport to college. Some students also have additional speech and language support Literacy/Dyslexia support independent travel training emotional /behavioural support and/or job coaching support

Entry Requirements
This course is for you if you need support at college and would like to work in retail or with customers in hospitality or a similar area. Most students on the course are aged 16 - 22 and have an Education Health Care Plan. You do not need any academic qualifications to come on the course but some students have some qualifications at E1 E2 and/or E3. We will assess the best course for you at your interview.

Ongoing assessment for accredited learning and against individual targets. You will also have three progress reviews with your tutor and parent/carer each year - To help you develop your skills in customer service and retail - To develop your confidence in communication and personal and social development skills - To help achieve skills and qualifications that will help you progress to employment in the future - To help you achieve the outcomes on your Education Health Care Plan
