You will work towards achieving personalised individual targets. The course helps you to develop your skills in making adult choices, taking responsibility, developing your confidence, communication and personal and social skills. On the course you will do gardening and will practice travelling and using the local community, being healthy, using your independent living skills and self-advocacy. You will have a course tutor who will help you if you have any difficulties and who will monitor and support your progress.
Support Available
You will work in a small group, (between 7 and 9 students), with a teacher and at least one support worker. Some students have 1.1 support. There is also support available in the canteen and quiet room and during lunch and breaks. If you do not travel independently you can apply for transport to college. Some students also have additional speech and language support, literacy/dyslexia support, independent travel training and/or emotional /behavioural support.

Entry Requirements
This course is for you if you would like to work on becoming more independent and need support at college. Most students on the course have completed a Pathway to Independence or similar course and have an Education Health Care Plan. We will assess the best course for you at your interview
Assessment Method
Ongoing assessment against individual targets. We also have three progress reviews with your tutor and your parent/carer each year.

Progression Opportunities

Facilities
You will learn in class, out and about in the community, on visits and trips, in specialist rooms in the college e.g. cookery in the kitchen, gardening in the grounds
