This short evening course is for those that need basic home or work PC repair & upgrade or to become familiar with hardware and software. This practical 'hands-on' course will teach you the essentials of assembling a PC from scratch and troubleshooting the various types of PC hardware. With the modern world's emphasis on technological solutions skills in building and maintaining computer equipment are in high demand.

    Entry Requirements

    Four GCSEs at grades A*-C; one of which must be GCSE English or GCSE Mathematics. Or successful completion of a Level 2 substantial qualification in a related subject - plus an initial assessment that indicates an appropriate level of English and mathematical ability and a satisfactory reference.

    Assessment Method

    Learners are assessed through activities that are internally set by tutors. These include role play practical demonstration report writing group discussion essay written question/answer

    Facilities

    The course will be delivered using our Cisco IT Essential online material and attendance at weekly practical sessions. You will receive a College certificate. However this course prepares you for the C&G 7540 Unit Certification in ICT Systems Support and Cisco IT Essential I. At the end of the course you will have the chance to gain these qualifications. This course prepares students for the professional A+ certification qualifications.

    Success on this course will increase your chances of progression onto other computing and information technology courses. Alternatively you may decide to utilise your skills and embark on a career in the fast moving field in computing.

Coronavirus update
