IT & Computing

This course suits those interested in progressing on to study a computing and information technology course at university but who do not yet have the required qualifications. You will participate in main modules including Computer Programming Administering Windows 7 and Server 2008 Networking Fundamentals Routing and Switching Basics WANs Web Authoring Software Web Development and Management Algebra Statistics Trigonometry Operating Systems Research Projects and Examination Skills. Assessment will be through written assignments.

    Entry Requirements

    You will need four GCSEs A*-C / or 9-4 (in 2017 GCSEs). Relevant Level 2 qualification with Merit or above. Relevant industry experience to Level 2 or above.

    Assessment Method

    Learners are assessed through activities that are internally set by tutors. These include role play practical demonstration report writing group discussion essay and written question/answer.

To help learners who are seeking to take on increased responsibilities in life and work. To help learners who are seeking to enter new work areas and are looking to update and/or add to their employment skills and knowledge.

    Once successfully completed you can apply to enrol on university courses in computing and related subjects. You can also progress onto our Foundation Degree in Business and IT. If you choose to study for a digital skills qualification you'll start on a career path with many progression opportunities. And an excellent salary in your sights. For example IT project managers start on around £29 000 a year and earn £49 000 after 3-5 years of IT experience.
