Entry Requirements
3 GCSE D-G/ or 3-1 (in 2017 GCSEs) Entry Level 3 English qualification
If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade 4 (that's the former Grade C) or above in Maths or English, you will be given the opportunity to develop your skills in these subjects. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.
Assessment Method
You will create portfolios for each module, which can include written work, sketchbooks, notebooks, journals, images, digital recordings and photos. You will be assessed on these portfolios.
Aims of the course
The course aims to give you a perfect start if you want to work in the creative arts, design or media industries. You will gain useful new skills in many fascinating subjects, including drawing and sketching, camera capture for film, editing techniques, fashion, and design, while acquiring the practical, communication and personal skills needed for a job in the creative sector.
Progression Opportunities
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto our more specialised level. This course can lead you into entry level jobs in design, media, film, photography, fashion, arts or the creative sectors. These jobs can include design assistant, studio assistant, front of house operations and positions within the fashion industry. Successfully passing the Level 1 Diploma in Art, Design and Media will also give you the opportunity to enrol on one of the following Level 2 courses:

In addition, you will participate in regular visits to galleries and museums and will receive the chance to exhibit your work at our exciting end-of-year show. All students are encouraged to develop a strong portfolio to enable them to progress to a higher-level course or job.
With courses in creative arts ranging from art and design, and performing arts, through to media production and production arts available from Level 1 right up to Level 3 Extended Diplomas this year, we are sure to have a course to match your dream and future plans.
