Sport

This course introduces you to the sport and active leisure sector and is an exciting opportunity for learners who are interested in pursuing a career in sport. You will learn about your own fitness and how the body works through participation in a variety of fitness activities and by planning and using your own fitness programme. The emphasis is on demonstrating what you can do rather than what you know in theory. You will get the opportunity to tailor the course to your own interests by choosing from optional units.You will also learn about rights and responsibilities at work and health and safety. On successful completion of this course you will achieve: - L1 diploma in sports - English (dependent on prior qualification) - Maths (dependent on prior qualification) You will also go on a work placement which is a compulsory element of the study programme. Completion of these elements will provide you with an excellent foundation to continue your learning and development and pursue your dream career in sport.

    Entry Requirements

    Four GCSEs at grade 2-1 including English and Maths - E3 Functional Skills in English and Maths.

    Assessment Method

    You will be assessed by a combination of practical and written methods including an exam element.

    Aims of the course

    • To enable you to explore different job opportunities in the sport and active leisure. - To help you to develop generic transferable and sector-specific skills knowledge and behaviours To prepare you to progress to further study.

    Progression Opportunities

    You can progress to a level 2 qualification in the sport sector or other related sectors.

    Facilities

    You will learn through practical tasks off-site visits work experience workshops guest speakers use of technology simulations 1:1 sessions and both group and independent work.

    Career Options

    You can progress on to a BTEC Level 2 in sports or gain more experience through voluntary employment in the sports sector
