Work experience is a mandatory part of the course with students completing a placement two days per week across both academic years. Entry Requirements
You will need GCSE English Maths and Science at grade 4 or above plus two additional GCSEs at grade 4 or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications. As this is a two-year study programme you must be aged 16 to 18 at the time of enrolment. T Level courses are currently funded for learners who are under the age of 19 at the point of enrolment. You may also be required to complete an assessment to confirm your suitability for the course prior to enrolment. As this course involves working with adults in healthcare settings you may be required to successfully obtain a DBS certificate for which the college will cover the cost.
Assessment Method
Assessment for this course includes a combination of practical skills assignments and examinations. Practical skills are observed and assessed during the industry placement alongside written assignments and externally assessed exams.
Aims of the course
The T Level in Health - Supporting the Adult Nursing Team is designed to equip you with the knowledge skills and professional behaviours required to support registered practitioners in delivering high-quality compassionate care to adult patients. Throughout the programme you'll develop the skills needed to assist with a range of clinical and non-clinical tasks follow essential health and safety and infection control procedures and support individuals with daily living activities across a variety of healthcare settings. You'll also build confidence in working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team understanding patient needs and applying professional standards in real-world environments. This course aims to prepare you for progression into further training apprenticeships or employment within the health sector while enabling you to make a meaningful contribution to patient care and wellbeing.
Progression Opportunities
After completing this T Level you will be well prepared to progress directly into a range of healthcare roles or continue your studies. Many students move into entry-level healthcare positions such as healthcare support worker or ambulance support worker where they can apply their clinical and communication skills in real-world settings. You may also choose to progress onto a healthcare apprenticeship allowing you to earn while continuing to develop your skills and professional experience. In addition successful completion of the programme provides a strong foundation for higher education supporting progression to university courses in areas such as nursing midwifery or other health-related disciplines.
Facilities
Students will primarily be taught through classroom-based learning including traditional lessons workshops and practical sessions. Teaching takes place in our simulated hospital ward and specialist classrooms allowing students to develop practical skills in a safe supportive environment. As part of the course students will also complete an industry placement gaining experience across a range of real healthcare settings and applying their learning in practice.
Career Options
On completion of the course learners can progress into a range of healthcare roles including Healthcare Support Worker positions in hospitals community settings GP practices or residential care. Other potential roles include Adult Nursing Support Worker where you assist registered nurses with clinical tasks observations and patient care and Ambulance Support Worker where you support paramedics during patient transport and emergency responses. Learners may also progress into Level 3 or Level 4 healthcare apprenticeships such as Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Adult Nursing) or Assistant Practitioner depending on employer requirements. In some NHS trusts progression into Maternity Support Worker roles may also be available alongside Healthcare Assistant positions that offer further on-the-job training.
