The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business is a vocational qualification designed to develop the practical knowledge understanding and skills required to work within the business sector. The course is intended for students who wish to progress to the second year to complete the full Extended Diploma move on to higher education and ultimately pursue employment within the business industry.

    Entry Requirements

    You will need four GCSE qualifications at grades A to C or grades 9 to 4 including English Language and or Maths or a Level 2 vocational qualification alongside a Level 2 English qualification. If you are accepted onto this course without a grade 4 or above in Maths and or English previously grade C you will be required to develop your skills in these subjects as a compulsory part of your timetable.

    Assessment Method

    Your progress will be assessed through a combination of written assignments practical tasks and projects. Each unit has specific assessment criteria that must be met in order to achieve a pass. Assessment methods include written assignments to demonstrate your understanding of theoretical concepts practical tasks that allow you to apply your skills in real or simulated business environments and in-depth projects that integrate multiple aspects of the course content. Some units also include written examinations and computer-based tests to assess your knowledge and understanding. Grades are awarded as Unclassified Pass Merit or Distinction.

    Aims of the course

    This qualification provides a highly specialist work-related programme within the vocational sector of business equipping you with the knowledge understanding and skills required to prepare for employment or progression to university. It is a two-year full-time course designed for learners who meet the entry requirements and wish to progress to higher education employment or higher apprenticeships.

    Having successfully completed the programme you will be well placed to seek employment opportunities continue your studies or progress to university.

    Facilities

    Students benefit from enrichment opportunities including support to achieve English and Maths at the required level (GCSE grade C or above) tutorial guidance employability skills training work experience and support with job and university applications including interview preparation. The course is delivered in classrooms and dynamic workspaces as well as a dedicated 90-seat theatre. Facilities include specialist IT-equipped classrooms and a well-resourced Learning Centre.
