Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Message from the Principal

Lewisham College stands in solidarity with our Black colleagues, students, alumni, partners, community groups and community leaders. Our College actively opposes any kind of racism, and we have been shocked and deeply saddened by the recent events in the US.

Our College does not tolerate racism or discrimination and we are committed to ensuring that our students and staff can study and work in environments that embed the principles and practices of equality, diversity and inclusion.

We will look even more closely at what we do and how we do it, and make sure we know we are doing everything we can to tackle racism and all other forms of discrimination and prejudice. We know that great organisations really listen to stakeholders without defensiveness, or being distracted, or making excuses.

Tackling inequality is at the heart of what we do, and we will continue to work to address prejudice. A statement outlining our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion as part of NCG has been posted on the NCG website. This details how we will enhance our EDI Strategy moving forward but we know that this can only happen through listening, learning and engaging with our community, and if there are real spaces for our staff and students to be heard.

We must all stand together to tackle this as we take a great pride in being an inclusive College.
