Lewisham College hosted a 50 Plus Jobs Fair in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), catering to individuals aged 50 and over, seeking employment opportunities. Attendees were met with a range of exciting job opportunities and connected with employers looking for talented individuals.

With up to 30 exhibitors present, job seekers had a chance to learn more about a diverse range of employment opportunities, including current vacancies, apprenticeships and courses from well-known organisations such as the Home Office, Better/GLL, The Bridge Theatre, Voncap, FSF, Better Off Calculations, Regular Cleaning, United Living, Health and Care Job Hub – NHS Trust, TFL, Smart Works, Anglian Group, CIS Security, Home Instead, Centaur Travel, ASRP Aviation, Rosewood, Mulalley, Safe Only Security, Disability Employment Advisors, CLU, Croydon College, South London & Maudsley NHS, TSC Security, and Change Please. 

Kim Lloyd, a job seeker who has recently experienced redundancy, shared her perspective on the event: "Attending the DWP 50 Plus Jobs Fair at Lewisham College has been exceptionally beneficial for me. It's been an informative experience for me to learn more about the potential roles available and the potential career paths in various industries. I'm truly thankful for the support and interest demonstrated by the service providers. The event holds great significance for the local community, and I'm keenly interested in pursuing a career in Teaching."

Carole Perimode, from Mulalley, said: "Today has been a highly productive day for us. We have had the pleasure of meeting exceptional candidates at the event who have demonstrated a keen interest in joining our team. At present, we have an active vacancy for a Labourer, which not only benefits our company but also contributes to the growth and development of the local community. Moreover, we offer courses in manual handling and apprenticeships, further highlighting our commitment to skill development and community engagement."

Lewisham College was fully committed to ensuring that attendees were aware of the employment and educational prospects available within the College.

Coronavirus update

Lewisham College is closely monitoring all communications and guidance as it becomes available.
