Lewisham College's ESOL department recently organised its annual Spelling Bee Competition, which provides a lively and competitive platform for ESOL adult learners to demonstrate their language proficiency and showcase their exceptional linguistic talents and unwavering determination.

The competition, which took place in a vibrant and supportive environment, provided a remarkable platform for participants to exhibit their language proficiency and foster a sense of camaraderie and accomplishment.

The Spelling Bee Competition, renowned for its engaging and competitive nature, was a valuable opportunity for a diverse range of non-native English speakers. Participants from Entry 1 to Entry 3 levels, representing a variety of backgrounds and cultures, showcased their spelling abilities with remarkable poise and determination, embodying the spirit of resilience and dedication that defines Lewisham College's ESOL community.

The event culminated in a celebration of achievement, with outstanding participants such as Sadia Bechir, Sandrine Gansagne, Katia Rodriguez, Arlinda De Jesus Fernandez, and Eftu Jaleta emerging as winners.

More than just a showcase of linguistic skills, the Spelling Bee competition was a powerful confidence-building exercise, empowering participants to embrace their language learning journey with enthusiasm and determination. All participants were awarded certificates, and the winners received voucher prizes at the awarding ceremony as a testament to their hard work and dedication.

The success of the Spelling Bee competition stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment of Lewisham College's ESOL department to providing a nurturing and empowering learning environment for adult learners. It served as an inspiring reminder of ESOL adult learners' potential and remarkable progress, encouraging others to embark on their own language learning journey.
