Health & Social Care

This study programme is a two-year course and is equivalent to three A Levels. It consists of seven mandatory units and four optional units, the content of which has been designed to ensure it supports students with a keen interest in working within either a health and social care field or within the Psychology sector. It has been designed to support learners progression to higher education & employment.

Entry Requirements

Four GSCEs (any subjects at grade 4 or above) as well as English and maths at grade 4 or above. This programme is delivered with a national foundation diploma certificate in health and social care and cannot be combined with A levels

    Aims of the course

    This course aims to motivate learners who are considering a career within Psychology/Health and Social Care, or a related sector. This is done by providing learners with knowledge and understanding of different Psychology and health and social care approaches & research methodology. Learners will also be expected to use a synoptic approach when undertaking their internal assessments which will develop skills of investigation, problem-solving, analysis and creative development. Learners will learn key studies and theories within Psychology and health and social care and will be required to demonstrate their knowledge through application to real life scenarios as well as case studies.

    Higher education to study Psychology, Social Sciences, Criminology. Occupational Health, Child Psychology, Sport Psychology, Counselling

    Facilities students will come into contact with and how the course will be delivered e.g. workshops, lessons, out of classroom, on set etc. Classrooms, Computer rooms, Work placements, external visits and external speakers.
