ESOL, English & Maths

If you would like to spend a year to focus on studying for a suitable GCSE English and maths pass grade so you can progress in your education or employment or maybe you would like to improve your reading writing speaking and numeracy skills while gaining this qualification; then this course is for you. If you are between the ages of 16-18 years studied at a UK school or you are from an English-speaking country then this course may be suitable for you. The YEFEE (Youth Entry to Further Education and Employment) is a full-time 1 year Maths and English study programme for young people with excellent progression routes. Our Study Programme meets the government requirement to help young people progress on to most jobs training and further education courses. While studying towards your GCSE maths and English qualification you will develop your employability skills in-class and through a suitable work placement. You will advance in your ICT skills and understand the key aspect of vocational studies through vocational taster courses. You will also be supported with tutorials and pastoral care. As well as all this you will be able to participate in enrichment trips and projects. The study program enables you to progress successfully on to further education training employment or secure a place on one of our vocational courses.

    Entry Requirements

    A Grade 3 GCSE English and/or maths result or the equivalent level of maths and English results following our assessments on the day.

    Assessment Method

    Examinations: externally set exams for GCSEs.

    Aims of the course

    • To provide the necessary maths and English qualifications that will allow excellent progression opportunities to employment and further study. - To develop the Numeracy ICT English reading writing and communication skills of individuals. - To support secure progression on to the many further education colleges and university that require a good level of English and maths regardless of the course.

    Progression Opportunities

    Learners can choose to progress into higher levels of study in subejcts such as Accounting Apprenticeship Business Catering and Hospitality Construction Health and Social Care Hair and Beauty IT/Digital Sport Creative Arts Early Years or Teacher Training.

    Facilities

    The course will be delivered as taught lessons workshops out of classroom visits and in-house guest visitors and workshops.

    Career Options

    Upon successful completion and/or higher levels of study. You could choose to enter a range of careers such as Business and Accounting Catering and Hospitality Construction Health and Social Care Hair and Beauty IT/Digital Sports Creative Arts Early Years Teaching and many other careers where maths and English are a requirement.
