This course is suitable for adults who are looking for work or want to improve their career prospects in the field of bookkeeping and accountancy but still need to develop their English language, mathematics and information technology skills. As a student on the programme you will study listening, pronunciation, reading, speaking, spelling and writing skills and learn to use your English in a range of contexts, including accountancy and business, mathematics and information technology. You will also work towards a vocational qualification. This course includes subjects like job searching, CV writing and interview preparation, and provides you with opportunities to participate in educational trips and listen to visiting speakers.
You will sit a short test on English and mathematics, and have an interview with a teacher. You should be able to demonstrate English, mathematics and information and communications technology skills at Entry 3 to do this Level 1 course.

At the end of each 18 week semester there are assessments in speaking & listening, reading, writing and bookkeeping exams.
Aims of the course
To gain qualifications in English and maths as well as Bookkeeping which can enhance employment opportunities. The course aims to prepare students to progress in their chosen field. This could be further study, improving career prospects or seeking work.
Depending on the qualifications achieved during the year, you can progress to higher levels of English and mathematics, into vocational courses, work or apprenticeships.
Students learn in the classroom for most of the time and sessions include group work, pair work and individual study. Students will be able to access college facilities such as the Learning Centre and ICT equipment. Most courses include trips outside college to galleries and museums as part of the curriculum and other enrichment and equality and diversity activities.
Successful students may progress into the business or finance sectors or to further study in the college.
