Early Years

This course is a good stepping stone if you're aiming for a career in the childcare and Early Years sector. It is made up of units including Introduction to Communication; Introduction to Personal Development; Introduction to Equality and Inclusion; Child and Young Person Development; Safeguarding the Welfare of Children and Young People; Contribute to Children and Young People's Health and Safety; Understand Partnership; and Working in Services for Children and Young People. Students also undertake around 200 hours of practical work experience and complete a Practical Evidence Portfolio

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants should be over 16 years of age and have four GCSEs at grades D-F/3-2 an equivalent Level 1 qualification at Merit or above or relevant industry experience.

    Assessment Method

    Assignments project-based tasks time-constrained exams assessments in the workplace.

    Aims of the course

    To enable students to gain the skills needed to enter employment in the childcare and Early Years sector.

    Progression Opportunities

    You can progress on to further study on the Level 3 Diploma in children's workforce (Early Year educator) Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare or BTEC level 3 90 credit Health and Social Care or to apprenticeship programmes or to employment.

Coronavirus update
