This exciting qualification designed to allow you to explore, develop and test your creativity, and gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of performing and production arts and as a collaborative activity. This course is perfect for those of you looking to progress to further training or Higher Education.

Working in collaboration with the performing art group you will be learning the skills to set up and manage the theatre productions. Through collaborative learning you will learn all the technical skills for a performance. This course will develop your skills in mask design and use, design for performance including sets, costumes and lights, and technical management.

More than just developing your technical and creative skills, you will also gain a deeper knowledge of the theories and principles of performing and production arts, increase your understanding of the industry as a whole, and develop the confidence and skills you'll need to succeed in real-world auditions and interviews. You will learn about professional practice standards, critical and contextual awareness, and the expectations of the professional world of performance and production.

So, whether your future lies on stage or screen, behind the scenes or in-front of an audience, or in performing or producing, the Level 3 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts can help set the stage for your future career journey.

Throughout the course, you will benefit from workshops with professional actors, writers, directors and producers. You will also be taken on theatre trips at least once a term.

The course also aims to enable you to be more employable by helping you to develop skills in communicating, working collaboratively, negotiating and influencing, self-presentation and management, adaptability and resilience, self-monitoring and development.

Learning will be through practical activities and project.     Entry Requirements

    • 4 GCSE qualifications at grades A*-D or 9-3, including English Language
    • Level 1 vocational qualification and a Level 1 English qualification
    • Relevant industry experience to level 1 or above

    Additional information: You will have a review of your portfolio.

    All Learners need 2 black T-shirts and 2 black jogging bottoms to take part in practical sessions, notebooks, pens/pencils, highlighters, jazz shoes, hairbands, set textbook (to be indicated in week 1).

    If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade 4 (that's the old Grade C) or above in Maths and/or English you will be given the opportunity to develop your skills in these subjects. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.

    Assessment Method

    You will be assessed by a combination of assignments, course work, observation of practical workshops, and a final project.

    Facilities

    Our courses are delivered in spacious, state-of-the-art studios enjoying natural daylight from the adjoining Tressiliian road offering excellent inspiring views of Lewisham way. We have a huge 90-seat theatre, spacious dance and technical theatre studios, rehearsal rooms, computer editing suites, recording studios, and digital and traditional black and white photography developing dark rooms.

    To offer the best experience to you using the great facilities above, we have assembled a team of industry-trained expert tutors and professional technical staff, who have lifelong industry knowledge and experience.

    In addition, you will participate in regular visits to galleries and museums and will receive the chance to exhibit your work at our exciting end-of-year show. All students are encouraged to develop a strong portfolio to enable them to progress to a higher-level course or job.
