Construction and Engineering

The T Level programme in Building Services Engineering is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the BSE industry covering topics such as Health and Safety construction science principles sustainability in the construction industry and building services engineering systems. This qualification is ideal for learners aged 16-19 passionate about pursuing a career in the Building Services Engineering industry. In this programme you will develop industry-relevant skills and knowledge of electrical systems and installation processes through engaging lessons and practical applications. You will also gain insights into essential construction principles and sector requirements empowering you to thrive in the dynamic and evolving field of electrotechnical engineering. Successful course completion prepares learners for occupational competence with the necessary support and training.

    Entry Requirements

    You will need five GCSEs at grade 5 or above (grade C) including English Language and Maths or equivalent level 2 qualifications. As this is a two-year study programme you must be aged 16 to 18 to enrol on this course. Currently T Level courses are only funded for learners who are under the age of 19 at the point of enrolment. You may also be required to undertake an assessment to ensure your suitability ahead of enrolment. If your course requires you to work with young people or vulnerable adults you might be required to successfully secure a DBS certificate for which the college will pay the fee.

    Assessment Method

    All assessment is external and includes written exam papers and recorded assessments.

    Aims of the course

    To equip students for work in the construction industry with a focus on electrical installation.

    Progression Opportunities

    The T level (equivalent to 3 A levels) provides a route into becoming a registered electrician as well as attracting UCAS points should a candidate wish to progress onto a university course.

    Facilities

    The course includes classroom delivery practical work in our workshop and extended placements in the real world of construction.

    Career Options

    Many students find they are offered employment within the construction industry.
