The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Business Studies) is a Level 3 qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. The qualification gives you the relevant academic subject knowledge needed for higher education study and the opportunity to develop study skills to help you to succeed. It is well established and widely accepted by universities qualifying for UCAS tariff points that are comparable to the tariff points for three A levels.

    Entry Requirements

    • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths (Grades *A-C or minimum Grade 4). - Completion of written initial or diagnostic assessment.

    Assessment Method

    You will build a portfolio of evidence throughout the course which will include written assignments presentations research project controlled assessments exams advice booklets and leaflets. Learners are assessed through activities that are internally set by tutors. These include role play practical demonstration report writing group discussion essay written question/answer.

    Aims of the course

    The Access to HE Diploma (Business Studies) offers adult returners a coherent integrated and supported year of study through which they will gain the knowledge awareness skills and confidence necessary for successful undergraduate studying in the intended progression routes for this Diploma. The course aims to provide a balance of essential study skills with specialist subject knowledge to enable learners to be prepared for the academic and practical rigours of undergraduate study in Business Studies. It must however be noted that the Access to HE Diploma does not provide guaranteed entry to UK Higher Education Institutions.

    Progression Opportunities

    Learners primarily progress to Higher Education study in areas related to Business Studies. These may include some of the following areas of Degree level study: Business Studies Business Management Accountancy Banking and Finance Economics Marketing Business and Law and a wide range of combined and related degrees. OCN London works with local universities to develop progression agreements that benefit all its providers and learners. The following agreements are in place: - London South Bank University (Partnership agreement) - Goldsmiths University of London (Progression agreement) - The Institute of Banking and Finance (Progression agreement)

    Facilities

    We have a wide range of computer rooms and labs with industry standard hardware and software where you will learn a range of skills. The model of delivery will be a mix of classroom-based and online learning. You will have access to our digital learning platforms that will provide you with a range of materials and resources to support your learning whilst on this course. Individual tutorial support is available. Additional learning support is also available if required.

    Career Options

    Learners primarily progress to Higher Education study in areas related to Business Studies and secure job roles in the following: - Business Studies - Marketing - Economics - Accountancy - Business Management - International Business - Law and Finance degrees.
