Is this course for me?

This course is for young people who have left school with few or no qualifications or who have been out of education for some time and wish to improve their skills to move on in life and learning.

What will I study?

This course will focus on developing

  • skills of communication - written and spoken
  • skills with number
  • personal development, including working with others
  • skills for employment.

These are optional subjects:

  • As the programme develops there will opportunities to experience working environments, contribute to a community project and investigate vocational and employment options.

What can I do next?

This can lead to one of our vocational courses or into employment.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need to attend a short interview and assessment. Do not worry if you have not been at school for a while or have no qualifications. We will talk with you and work with you to make sure you are on the right course.

How will I be assessed?

You will have a short assessment to help us find out about your level of skill in English and Number. This is not a test but a way of helping us place you on the correct level course.

What will it cost?

If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances, you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out when you apply.
