Add to online application

People learn in different ways and at different speeds. That's why we take time to learn about you, discover the things you're good at and find out what you want to be.

How we'll help you

You will have regular one-to-one tutoring throughout your course. We're here to support, guide and encourage you as you learn. We'll expect a lot from you but you will learn to expect a lot from yourself.

There are different options for you depending on what you want to do next:

Courses that take you on to college and university

We offer you alternative routes to gaining a place at university that don't have to involve A'Levels.

One year full time courses

We have courses that prepare you for employment and further study alongside chance to experience different Vocational areas. You'll get proper qualifications, ranging from Functional Skills and Key Skills to Awards and Certificates, and perhaps GSCEs, to qualifications which will take you to University.

Short courses to get you ready for the next stage

Our 1-12 week Work Ready Programmes help prepare you for full-time study that may lead to work. We want you to succeed, so once you are ready to move on to a higher level of study or in to employment we will encourage you to do just that!

What do you do now?

If you like the sound of any of the courses we're offering, then we'd like to speak to you. Call or email our Contact Centre and say you'd like to talk to the The Academy for Foundation Skills.

Rachel Kato - Former Youth Entry to Higher Education (YEHE) Student

150x150Rachel KatoComing to Lewisham College prepared me a lot for university. Before going to College I didn't think I'd get in to uni.

When I came to College, I really buckled down and worked. YEHE gave me a broad knowledge of lots of subjects. It also introduced me to essay writing and doing seminar papers, which is what you do a lot of at university.

The teachers made the subjects interesting, and they always explained everything well. There are lots of people at Lewisham College who are there to help you if you're struggling.

Since you study a variety of humanities subjects in YEHE it means you're not limited and you can go on to do lots of different things at university. College is the place you decide what you want to do, it helps you discover a career path.

I'm now studying Human Psychology at De Montfort. One day I'd like to be a probation officer or I might go on and do a masters. I definitely want to work in the criminal justice sector.

Lewisham College opens up a lot of doors if you've failed you're GCSEs or A Levels - they welcome you in and let you start again. You can also go at any age; education's for anyone.
