Rachel Kato - Former Youth Entry to Higher Education (YEHE) Student
Coming to Lewisham College prepared me a lot for
university. Before going to College I didn't think I'd get in to
uni.
When I came to College, I really buckled down and worked. YEHE
gave me a broad knowledge of lots of subjects. It also introduced
me to essay writing and doing seminar papers, which is what you do
a lot of at university.
The teachers made the subjects interesting, and they always
explained everything well. There are lots of people at Lewisham
College who are there to help you if you're struggling.
Since you study a variety of humanities subjects in YEHE it
means you're not limited and you can go on to do lots of different
things at university. College is the place you decide what you want
to do, it helps you discover a career path.
I'm now studying Human Psychology at De Montfort. One day I'd
like to be a probation officer or I might go on and do a masters. I
definitely want to work in the criminal justice sector.
Lewisham College opens up a lot of doors if you've failed you're
GCSEs or A Levels - they welcome you in and let you start again.
You can also go at any age; education's for anyone.
