Is this course for me?

Foundation learning is for those whose experiences in school may not have led to exam success, or for those who have had some time out of education. The course will help people who now want to improve their opportunities to study at a higher level, or to gain a place on a specific vocational course, or move into employment. Foundation Learning courses include Functional Skills in English, Maths and IT and opportunities to engage in activities to prepare for the next step in life which include e.g. project work, enrichment, work placement, community project, volunteering. The work completed on Foundation Learning Courses can lead to a range of different qualifications

What will I study?

You will work towards various qualifications in literacy and numeracy, basic communications and IT. You will also work on personal development and managing behaviour and have the opportunity to work on other courses with the support of a tutor.

What can I do next?

This course can lead to other college courses.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need to show a commitment to the course and to improving basic skills. You will also attend a short interview with the course tutor.

What will it cost?

If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances, you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out when you apply.
