Is this course for me?

This course is ideal for young people interested in playing basketball. If you are considering playing competitive sport whilst working towards BTEC Diplomas and England Basketball qualifications our academy is for you.

LCA focuses on developing our athletes technically, physically, psychologically and socially. There is an emphasis on the development of insight (also referred to as basketball IQ). Athletes will be introduced a variety of defensive philosophies including man, zone and combo defence, traps, bluff and pressure defence.

This course is also suitable for those interested in understanding the structure and level required to enter the European Basketball Leagues as a professional athlete.

What will I study?

All LCA athletes work towards a BTEC First in Sport and progress to a BTEC National pathway if offered a Year 2 Team agreement.

What can I do next?

Upon completion of the basketball pathway athletes will have the opportunity to pursue a University place in the UK, U.S or Europe. However, in order to pursue U.S Colleges and European Universities you must generate excellent stats at Local and National Level in the UK.

What are the entry requirements?

BTEC First

  • You would have already obtained a Diploma in Sport at level 1
  • 4 G.C.S.E's no lower than a grade D

BTEC National

  • You would have already obtained a Diploma in Sport at level 2
  • You have achieved 5 A-C grades (including PE)

What will it cost?

If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances, you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out when you apply.

Course fee: £1,370 Exam fee: £110

Please note: For courses longer than one year, the fees stated apply to the first year only. These costs are for the academic year 2011-2012 only.
