Is this course for me?
This course is ideal for young people interested in playing
basketball. If you are considering playing competitive sport whilst
working towards BTEC Diplomas and England Basketball qualifications
our academy is for you.
LCA focuses on developing our athletes technically, physically,
psychologically and socially. There is an emphasis on the
development of insight (also referred to as basketball IQ).
Athletes will be introduced a variety of defensive philosophies
including man, zone and combo defence, traps, bluff and pressure
defence.
This course is also suitable for those interested in
understanding the structure and level required to enter the
European Basketball Leagues as a professional athlete.
What will I study?
All LCA athletes work towards a BTEC First in Sport and progress
to a BTEC National pathway if offered a Year 2 Team agreement.
What can I do next?
Upon completion of the basketball pathway athletes will have the
opportunity to pursue a University place in the UK, U.S or Europe.
However, in order to pursue U.S Colleges and European Universities
you must generate excellent stats at Local and National Level in
the UK.

What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.

Please note: For courses longer than one year, the fees
stated apply to the first year only. These costs are for the
academic year 2011-2012 only.
