Is this course for me?

This course gives an introduction to TV, video and radio.

What will I study?

You will learn basic production and theory skills using our TV and radio studios. You will also study Future Skills, which will help prepare you for the world outside College and includes interview preparation, communication, IT and presentation. At the end of the year, as part of our prestigious annual media show, you will present your work at an external venue.

What can I do next?

This can lead to study for a Media Degree. Entry level jobs in the broadcast and media industry are usually available after gaining a degree but if you should decide not to go to university then you may be able to gain employment in related areas such as sales or PR.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need a BTEC First at Merit or above or five GCSEs A-C, to attend College for an interview and show an interest in the media with knowledge of current affairs and both the tabloid and broadsheet press. You will be asked to talk about films that you have enjoyed and current developments in TV and radio that interest you.

What will it cost?

If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances, you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out when you apply.

Course fee: £1370 Exam fee: £180

Please note: For courses longer than one year, the fees stated apply to the first year only. These costs are for the academic year 2011-2012 only.
