Is this course for me?

If you're planning to take up a career as an electrician this could be for you. This certificate combines elecrotechnical knowledge with electrical installation (buildings and structures). This award is also part of apprenticeship programmes for this industry. This qualification supports apprenticeships for the electromechanical industry.

What will I study?

This course is designed for those students who wish to train and obtain underpinning knowledge in electrical installation work to enable them to find related employment within the construction and associated industries.

What are the entry requirements?

Attend an open day /open evening event and be successful in our entrance test.

How will I be assessed?

Practical skills are assessed throughout the course by internally set assignments. Theoretical knowledge is assessed by mock internal exams in preparation for 4 on-line exams set by City & Guilds. Each module / unit of the course has its own on-line exam. Practical skills are assessed the end of the course by a 2-day practical exam set by City & Guilds.

What will it cost?

If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances, you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out when you apply.

Course fee: £600 (for the first year of the two year option) or £1370 (for the one year option) Exam fee: £110

Please note: For courses longer than one year, the fees stated apply to the first year only. These costs are for the academic year 2011-2012 only.
