Is this course for me?
This course is perfect if you are thinking of a career in the
construction industry but have no experience.
What will I study?
It will develop your skills and knowledge in construction
skills, including brickwork, carpentry and joinery, painting and
decorating and plastering. It will enable you to work in the
industry of your chosen craft.

What can I do next?
After successfully completing this qualification, you may wish
to further your skills and experience either on a level 2
qualification in your specialist area. Alternatively, this
qualification provides you with the basic training to enter the
industry as a trainee.
What are the entry requirements?
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade G or better or an equivalent Entry
level qualification (eg BTEC, City & Guilds, NOCN). You will
need to demonstrate an interest in the subject area. You will be
asked to complete an initial assessment to see if this is the right
course for you. There will be an opportunity to discuss your
requirements at an informal interview.
How will I be assessed?
To gain the diploma, learners must be successful in all units
and the practical assignment. They must also pass the GOLA online
test, a separate knowledge test set and marked by CAA.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
