Is this course for me?
This course suits unemployed students who would like to gain a
qualification in the trade but cannot provide the working
experience necessary for a full NVQ. Construction Awards can be
upgraded into full NVQs as and when employment is gained.
What will I study?
This course consists of practical and theoretical study. The
programme is offered as a continuation from the Construction
Foundation Award and the City & Guilds Basic Vocational Skills
qualifications.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need to have completed the Diploma 1, NVQ
Level 1 or equivalent to gain entry to this course.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is via practical skills and the underpinning
knowledge, including short tests, subject assignments, a health and
safety test and an externally set theoretical knowledge test, which
can be retaken at the college if necessary. Students also meet
regularly with tutors to help plan studies and to discuss
progress.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
