Is this course for me?
This course has a flexible programme involving practical and
theory for one day per week. You will study for a Health and Safety
Certificate. Subjects covered include health and safety, first
fixing, second fixing, structural carcassing, and operating power
tools.
What will I study?
This course consists of practical and theoretical study. The
programme is offered as a continuation from the Level One
Diploma.

What can I do next?
This course can lead to a higher level qualification or
progression to an apprenticeship.
What are the entry requirements?
You will need to have successfully completed a Level 1 Diploma,
or NVQ Level 1 and attend an assessment and interview. You will
also need to be employed, or self-employed in the industry to
enable work based assessment to be carried out.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through practical skills and the underpinning
knowledge, including short tests, subject assignments, a health and
safety test and an externally set theoretical knowledge test, which
can be retaken at the college if necessary. Students also meet
regularly with tutors to help plan studies and to discuss
progress.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
