This course involves attending College for three days a
week for two years.
What will I study?
The course covers Building Technology, Sustainable Construction,
Health & Safety, Graphical Detailing, Mathematics, Surveying,
Science & Materials, Construction Technology & Design,
Building Surveying, Computer Aided Design, Science & Human
Comfort in Buildings, Building Regulations, Setting Out Processes,
Mechanical & Electrical Services, Design Procedures, Further
Mathematics, Structural Mechanics and Information &
Communication Technology. If you are interested in a career in the
Construction Industry in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying,
Site Management, Architecture or Civil Engineering, or wish to go
on to a Degree course in any of these areas, this course forms a
sound and broad basis of study.
What can I do next?
This can lead to a full-time Construction related Degree course
or Higher National Certificate in Building Surveying.
What are the entry requirements?
You will need to attend the College for an interview and a
short Literacy/Numeracy test. We would expect that you have GCSE's
in Mathematics and English at Grade C or above; or a Building Craft
qualification at Level 2/3; or a BTEC First Certificate/Diploma in
Construction. However, do not be put off by this as we also take
into account other qualifications and experience.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
