Is this course for me?

This course is good for anyone wanting to enter the building industry who wants to learn the basics of brickwork.

What will I study?

This course consists of practical tasks and theoretical study. You will cover basic bricklaying skills including: simple brick walls, block work, cavity work and basic arches. It provides the required knowledge to progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need to attend a short interview and initial assessment.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by an externally set theoretical knowledge test, which can be taken at the College and retaken if necessary, together with unit tests and continually assess course work. Students also meet regularly with tutors to help plan studies and to discuss progress.

What can I do next?

This can lead to further study at the College with the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying or NVQ Level 2 qualifications after employment. It can also lead to employment in the building industry.

What will it cost?

If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances, you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out when you apply.
