Is this course for me?
If you have an interest in digital media - interactive design,
2D and 3D gaming, web design and animation and think that you might
want to study it at a higher level then this course would be an
ideal place to start. Students who are successful may be able to
progress onto a BTEC National in Digital Media.
What will I study?
This course will allow you to develop your knowledge of the
digital media industry through written projects and practical media
skills such as web design, games design, interactive design,
team work, animation, audio and video editing. You will develop a
critical approach to what you see in the world of digital media
today and what has happened historically.

Entry level jobs in the digital and interactive media industry
are usually available after gaining a degree. If you decide
not to go to university then you may be able to gain employment in
related areas such as games design and web design.
What are the entry requirements?
You do not need prior experience but an interest in a broad
range of digital media is essential. You will be asked to both
discuss and write about parts of the media industry. You need to
enjoy working with others, have creative ideas and an open mind to
learning different techniques, skills and technical use of
equipment. You will need to attend College for an interview and be
able to demonstrate an interest in the media. You will need three
GCSEs or a Level 1 BTEC Introductory Diploma in Art, Design and
Media
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by assignments, class work, group work, oral
presentations, projects, and formal examinations. Students also
have regular meetings with a personal tutor to discuss progress and
to help plan studies. Additional support, help and guidance is also
available from the Guidance Team or from our Study Buddies (a
network of students offering help to other students with their
studies)
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
