Is this course for me?

The ILM Level 5 in Management provides you with the tools and knowledge to be a successful middle manager or if you are heading towards this role.   It seeks to develop a comprehensive range of basic middle management skills, assisting learners in gaining the knowledge required at this level. All learners  are able to choose from a range of optional units to build their qualification; this high level of flexibility allows individuals or their employers to custom build a qualification that focuses on the key areas most relevant to their role, industry or organisation.

What will I study?

In addition to the core and specialist units, this programme provides specialist work-related programmes of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the management sector.

  • Managing improvement
  • Making a financial case

Optional subjects: among other things you will also study:

  • Managing projects in the organisation
  • Leading innovation and change
  • Managing customer relations
  • Managing marketing activities
  • Understanding financial management
  • Becoming an effective leader
  • Managing resources
  • Analysing and interpreting statistics to inform management decisions

What can I do next?

On successfully completion of the course, you may progress to other qualifications at a suitable level for example the ILM Level 6/7 Award in Management.

This can lead to employment in:

  • Higher management levels

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements, but participants will normally be either practising or aspiring middle managers with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme.

How will I be assessed?

Depending on the units selected, a choice of: work-based assignments, reflective reviews, oral presentations, written reports or centre-devised alternatives

What will it cost?

If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances, you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out when you apply.
