Is this course for me?
This course suits those interested in a career in the
housing sector, or those already working in housing and who want to
improve prospects or prepare for further study. It is also suitable
for tenants looking to improve general awareness of housing
issues.
What will I study?
This course teaches the basic issues affecting rented housing.
It also looks at the different types of organisations in the
sector. Students develop specific housing communication skills and
look at the different roles within the sector and the abilities
needed to support them. Skills for working effectively in a team
are also learnt. A short period on work placement within a housing
organisation is undertaken in the latter half of the course.
Students are expected to arrange their own work placements.

What can I do next?
This can lead to the Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice on
a day-release or distance-learning basis (if students obtain paid
work or considerable amounts of voluntary work in the housing
sector). It may also be possible to progress to other Level 3
qualifications in areas such as the care sector.
This can lead to employment in:
- Social housing management
- Private sector lettings
What are the entry requirements?
You will need to attend a written test of your English skills
and an interview.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by written assignments and a presentation.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
