Xtravaganza do extra well

The first ever IVE MarketMaker Entrepreneurship Competition at
the Institute of Directors was a great success and for Lewisham
College's Xtravaganza, a team of students from the College's
Business Studies department, it was even more of a success. Though
a team from North Hertfordshire College walked away with first
prize, it was a day to be proud of for Xtravaganza as they finished
in second place, winning flip cameras and the respect of a judging
panel composed of business leaders.
Wearing their best suits at the prestigious Institute of
Directors in central London's Pall Mall, Xtravaganza was well
prepared by tutor Shahul Mohideen. CEO Jacob Sakil knew his product
inside and out, while head of marketing Jamhal Blair and head of
finance Paulo Sergio Mendes Moreira were ready to discuss their
product with anybody who stopped by their table. Health and safety
officer Pirasanth Sindraseharan was on the laptop, taking orders
and processing sales.

Xtravaganza's innovative business idea was a six-spice dispenser
that distributed a teaspoon of spice every time. Against stiff
competition, Xtravaganza was prepared and showed poise in their
pitch to a tough judging panel. Pirasanth admitted, "I've barely
slept for a week! We worked really hard on this, making sure
everything was right."
"I am delighted that Xtravaganza finished second in the
MarketMaker Entrepreneurship Competition," says Principal Maxine
Room. "In the face of fierce competition from colleges around the
United Kingdom, our students showed a keen business sense and a
flair for entrepreneurship that impressed the judging panel. I'd
like to thank their tutor Shahul Mohideen for the support they
received and congratulate Jacob Sakil, Paulo Sergio Mendes Moreira,
Pirasanth Sindraseharan and Jamhal Blair on an incredible
achievement!"
