Trade Union Studies Department Recognised For Quality
Lewisham College's Trade Union Studies Centre has
had its IAG Matrix Award renewed for the third successive time.
The Matrix Award is a quality standard, which proves competence
in the delivery of information, advice and guidance. Inspectors
praised the department's partnership work, flexible course and
eLearning provision, and retention and achievement rates.
Head of Trade Union Studies at the College, Rossina Harris,
said: "We're thrilled to have been reaccredited with the IAG Matrix
Award for the high quality information, advice and guidance we give
to learners and to numerous trade unions to help them set up and
maintain their learning provision.
"We were the first TU Studies Centre to gain the Matrix award in
2003, renewed in 2006 and have managed to keep it yet again. The
learners were fabulous in the feedback they gave - from the newest
learner to those who have completed lots of courses with us and
gone on to do degrees or become full time union officers."
This is the second time the TUS Centre has been recognised
nationally in recent months, before Christmas the department was
highly commended for a prestigious Association of Colleges Beacon
Award for Lifelong Learning.
