Nigel Hall visits Lewisham College for menswear
competition

Cutting-edge menswear was on display on Monday 30th January at
Lewisham College as renowned designer Nigel Hall dropped by
Lewisham College. He was there to judge a competition for Level 3
fashion students, who took some of Nigel's fabrics and created
colourful shirts that left a strong impression. Students visited
the British Museum for inspiration, trying to work what they saw
into their design. Along with shirts worn by student-models, the
competitors also produced a sketchbook detailing a line of
menswear.
Erica Weide won first place (including a £100 voucher for Nigel
Hall shops) with a shirt inspired equally by African prints and her
love of 50s and 60s vintage fashion. She was lauded by Nigel for
her "beautiful ideas" and "very nice detailing with print appliqué"
as well as an "amazing" sketch book. "All of these fabrics are from
my designs, and so I was fascinated by what the students could do
with them," said Nigel. "I want to thank the students for doing a
great job," before Nigel graciously provided feedback for the
aspiring Level 3 students who work under tutor Fiona Howard.
